Locations Chapter 1
Glastonbury Tor, Woodchester Mansion, Caldicot Castle, The Bell, Sedgemoor Battlefield

Glastonbury Tor
Glastonbury, Somerset

Saturday 3rd February 2007

There are plenty of rumours and myths in connection with this location and area. Some of them being Phantom Monks, Angels, Fairies and that strange lights have been seen above the Tor.  This mystical place was in need of an investigation.

The weather was perfect although there was a chilly breeze. I made my way up to the top of the Tor at approximatey 21.00. I had previously prepared all the necessary equipment, so I made my self comfortable and waited patiently.

After approximately two hours, I heard an almighty bang that appeared to come from inside the building at the top of the Tor. I ran inside but could not find any reason for the sound.

I decided to have a stroll around the Tor. The nightvision on my camcorder was struggling because it was so dark. A huge blanket of fog had made its way around the tor. It was like sitting on top of the clouds on your own island.

As I was pondering how I was going to find my way back to the car I noticed what I thought was a figure walking away from me down the hill. I gave chase - don't ask me why!

The chase lasted all of about 30 seconds. What I had seen dissapeared into the fog bank. I followed seconds after to find myself emersed in the fog with very little visibility.

I must admit for a brief moment panic set in. I could not see more than half a metre in front of me and I was miles from the car. Luckily, commonsense kicked in and I calmly made my way out of the fog and back to my equipment. I sat there for another hour and a half with no events to report. I decided to call it a night and go home, it was almost 04.00 hours.

I will visit this beautiful place again when a clear night is forecast.

Woodchester Mansion
Nailsworth,Gloustershire

Saturday 3rd March 2007

This very famous mansion hosts a number of hauntings within the mansion itself and also the huge park grounds -please see links for Woodchester Mansion site.

For this investigation I was part of an investigation team run by the BSPRI - please see links for more info on the group.

The investigation started at 22.00. There were  3 groups spread throughout different areas of the mansion. The group I was in started off in the Cellar.

As we entered  the Cellar I noticed a little boy run from one room to another. I followed to find that no-one was in the room. No-one else within the team had seen the little boy.

We continued with the remainder of this part of the investigation without any further sightings.

The next investigation was up on the top floor. There was a very strange atmosphere. We had all walked around the long length of the corridors for about half an hour when one of the ladies within the group startled, she had felt something walk past her which she could not see. However, the remainder of the investigation was uneventful.

The following hours' investigation was on the first floor, around the Bathroom area and above the Chapel.

We waited around the bathroom area, which was really quiet, for about twenty minutes. Myself and another member of the team walked up a set of wooden stairs into the corridor above the old Chapel. As we walked a few steps down the corridor we both heard somone walk up the stairs behind us. I called to say where we were, thinking it was another member of the team, but there was no reply.

We both made our way to the top of the stairs but there was no-one there. As we discussed the event a loud crash came from the other end of the corridor, so we decided to separate. I made my way to the other end of the corridor whilst the other team member stayed at the top of the stairs. Aproximatley ten minutes went by without any further events, although the feeling that we were not alone never left us.

The rest of the night passed by quietly. On the debrief, once we all had finished, each group discussed their investigations. I was surprised to hear that someone else in another group had a similiar experience to me in the Cellar. They described seeing a small man wearing the same clothes that I had seen the little boy wearing.

A very interesting night!

Caldicott Castle
Chepstow Castle, South-West of Chepstow, Monmouthshire

Friday 18th May 2007
- BSPRI investigation

This castle has been renowned for its supposed hauntings over the years.

We had arrived at 21.00. After a briefing, we were split into three groups; my group were sent to the Keep.

The Keep has three levels. We had an hour in the Keep and we started off in the basement. The atmosphere was very creepy. I had positioned myself on the stairs leading into the basement so I could film everything that was going on. After about ten minutes, I felt someone pushing their knees into my back. I spun round, no-one was there. What possessed me I do not know but I said out loud "Stop taking the mickey. Do something better than that you coward." Within a split second a huge sigh came from beside me!

We then went to the first floor, this was very quiet.

The top floor was completely different. I went to walk into the room, and the only way I can describe it is that it was like walking into a set of patio doors, I actually bounced backwards! I retried to enter the room but had to force myself in. This was not an experience that was felt only by me. There was also the presence of a woman within in the room that a few members of the team felt. However, the rest of this investigation passed quietly.

Our next investigation was in another Keep. We started at the top, this was really quiet. We then descended onto the first floor, and within five minutes I had caught  what I believe to be an Orb moving around the room. I am in the process of editing this footage from my hard drive.

This next chain of events I am going to explain briefly. Mentioning someone who may have passed over, who might have relatives still alive, may offend some people so any specific details have been kept private. A transmedium who was in the group let a girl spirit speak through her. After a short while, with the help of the group, she was sent over to the otherside, heaven, or to wherever your beliefs are that we go.

Our next  and our last investigation was in the Banqueting Hall. This started off very quietly. After aproximately ten minutes I noticed an elderly gentleman pacing back and forward in the middle walkway. I pointed out this gentleman to the group but no-one could see him, and after a short while he disappeared.

This concluded the end of the investigation.

The Bell
Buckland Dinham, Frome

Monday 11th June 2007

This is a beautiful Old English Public House, situated in a lovely Somerset village and has numerous accounts of paranormal activity. The latest accounts are from the Landlord, Jeremy. After speaking to him on an earlier visit, I arranged to spend the night on my own in the pub.

On the above date, at 23.30 hours, I arrived at the pub. I went about setting up my equipment. At 12.00 the pub had closed and I was left on my own in the Bar area and adjoining Restaurant.

Within minutes of switching on my equipment, I could hear sounds of furniture being moved. This lasted for about 20 minutes. Even though I could not isolate the sound, I could see it was not the funiture in the room. Then I had a couple accounts of possible Orbs. This happened all in the first hour, then peace descended on the pub and at about 04.30 I left feeling very dissapointed.

I will definately be back to try again.

Sedgemoor Battlefield
Westonzoyland, Bridgewater

Wednesday 5th July 2007

This date is the anniversary in which the Monmouth Rebellion fought against the Roundheads. There have been various reports of sounds of the battle being fought on this date, and sightings of soldiers marching on the battlefield: I had decided to spend the night at this location.

After speaking to the farmer who owned the land for permission to set up camp, I made my way to the site and set up. I had also been told by the farmer that Richard Felix was also going to be investigating the site. After aproximately two hours I saw Richard arrive. As it was quiet, I went over and chatted to him for a short while. Time was getting on, so I decided to wander the site with no paranormal events occuring. It was extremely dark due to the thick cloud in the night sky and it was very blustery. I spent a further three hours wandering around the site till dawn started moving in.

Unfortunately, this proved to be a disappointing night. After so many reports, I had expected Paranormal activity.
