HISTORY

I read an article in the local parish magazine written by Rodney Phillips about a murder that happened in Cubert back in 1883. From that day on a ghost of Thomas Downs has been seen on the main route coming into Cubert.It was reported that Thomas Downs had left the local inn and was walking out of the village where he was attacked with a hammer from a local man called Boswell who lived in a nearby village Newlands East.

Thomas was found dead by the side of the road the next day. His body was buried in the nearby Cubert church. Boswell was arrested and later sentenced to death.

I visited Rodney Phillips who has spent a long time researching the case and relayed some accounts of what had been seen by local people.

One account he relayed to me was that of a local women who was driving home from work in near by Newquay. She had just taken the bend known as Tommy's corner on the Cubert rd when she drove into a figure in the road. She checked to see who she had hit and realised that no one was there and there was no signs of impact. She described the man as dressed in black. 

With this report and the wealth of knowledge from Rodney I thought it would be worth carrying out the investigation to back up my local villagers experiences.

INVESTIGATION

I split the investigation into 2 parts on the same evening.

The first vigil was between 16.30 and 17.30. I done this as there is one witness account from someone who was driving home between this time.

I parked up on the side of the road just tucked away so I did not effect on coming traffic.

Apart from the ususal traffic of people coming in and out of the village in there cars it was quiet.

The second part of the investigation started at 21.00 and finished at 02.00.

I once again parked in the same spot facing the bend where a figure of a man had been seen on several occassions. The evening was cold with a few scattered showers but otherwise not to bad. I sat on the road side in my car looking for any signs of activity with no joy. The only company I had was a resident fox he wandered back and forward.

CONCLUSION

This was the first time I investigated this area. From all the witness reports there is def something going on. On this night there was nothing.

The footage did not yield any paranormal activity either. Before I make up my mind on this one I will try again in the near future to either capture some activity or find some alternative answers.

THE HOPE INN

BRIDGEWATER, SOMERSET

HISTORY

I was contacted by a previous client who I helped in the past about her new premises she had purchased. The Inn she had purchased has had reports of a female spirit who shows herself at the bar and also in the ladies toilets. She has not seen the spirit herself at present but has had many of her regulars report various stories. I was happy to help once again.

Te then attempted contact in various other areas with no activity.

A locked off camera I had positioned in the attic came up with no results also.

The investigation finished about 03.30.

CONCLUSION

After carrying out the investigation with all the equipment I could use at hand the inn came up with no activity.

This was not a problem as not all locations come up with activity and if they do alot of the activity can be explained.

I was glad of my honest and scientific approach when debunking as this helped to capture a certain person who was sat in on the investigation making banging noises with her foot which was misleading others to think paranormal activity was occuring. This I witnessed on the night and also captured on camera.

It is very frustrating when people take advantage of my good will. I will say no more. Do I think this property is haunted not at present.

PENQUITE HOUSE

HISTORY

I was contacted by Paul a manager at Penquite house. The old Georgian manor house is currently a Youth hostel. The manager relayed about various activity that occurs over the phone to me.It was a investigation that I could'nt refuse.

INVESTIGATION

On arrival at Penquite house I met up with Paul he gave me a guided tour of the original servant quarters.

He relayed some of the witness reports. Some of the more proment ones was. A group of children staying with there teachers woke to see a large figure stood in the doorway to there room. They then witnessed the taps turn on in the sink.

Two other visitors also reported hearing someone pacing up and down the corridor. On investigation no one was there. They then decided to leave the door open. The pacing still occured but no one was there.

I decided to set up a camera in room 12. The supposed most active room. The door was locked.

I then went off to room 15 to carry out a lone vigil. This proved to be quiet with no signs of activity.

The night carried on the same way. Every room I investigated nothing occured. I covered the whole top floor and the grand staircase on the next floor with no signs of activity. Strangely enough I had the feeling of not being alone.

On various occassions I had the feeling that someone was about to walk into the room with me or as I entered a room they were already there.

I finished the Investigation at 02.00.

CONCLUSION

After getting a good nights sleep I began going through the footage with some good reults.

Room 12= This camera was locked off and I was not in the area. Sounds of movement in the room and outside.

Corridor= This corridor outside room 12 also had a camera locked off. At various occassions movement was heard in the area and also a orb was also noted on one occassion.

I personally did not have any experiences but with the evidence I have now I have to say something strange is occuring at Penquite house. I will be aranging a follow up investigation to confirm.
